Medical Laboratory Assistant

Medical laboratory assistants perform tests and laboratory procedures. Assistants may prepare specimens and operate automated analyzers; perform manual tests in accordance with detailed instructions. They generally work under the supervision of medical and clinical laboratory technicians or technologists. Like technicians, clinical laboratory assistants may work in several areas of the clinical laboratory or specialize in just one.
