MMTC Partners With Chattanooga Office Supply and RBSI

CHATTANOOGA, TN (AUG. 21, 2012) - One thing many students take for granted is that they will have brand new school supplies to begin the school year. The reality is that new school supplies are a luxury that some students can’t afford. In fact, there are approximately 16 million students throughout the United States who go without basic school supplies each year. Miller-Motte Technical College hopes to help eradicate that number though.

For the past four years, Miller-Motte has led a donations event called “Enroll Patrol” presenting area high schools with much needed school supplies. This academic year will be no different as MMTC – Chattanooga has joined forces with Chattanooga Office Supply and RBSI to help kick start the 2012-2013 year on August 27, 2012. High School Coordinator at MMTC, Sherrie Coombs hopes that the school supply drive will help make a difference for some of those students as well as for teachers and instructors.

In the past many area high school teachers have used their own money to purchase non-allocated supplies needed for the classroom.  Miller-Motte hopes to alleviate some of this burden with the help of sponsors such as Chattanooga Office Supply and RBSI.  Supplies to be donated include hand sanitizer, tissues, bottled water, pencils, highlighters, paper clips, copy paper, and many other items. Says campus director June Kearns, "We are committed to assuring the academic future and success of local students and we furthermore want to show our support for the instructors who wear a number of hats and assume a great deal of personal expense and investment in their students. This is just one way we hope to offer a bit of relief."

Be on the lookout for the Enroll Patrol Teams as they deliver to twenty area high schools from Chattanooga to Dalton to Cleveland and points in between!
