Women of Hope and Miller-Motte Offers Beauty Tips to Help During Tough Times

"Women of Hope" a 501(c)(3) charitable organization is dedicate to enhancing the quality of life for the female cancer patient, their families, and friends. They offer educational opportunities, financial assistance, as well as various support services. These provided services are designed to help with the emotional, phyiscal, and spiritual needs of all that have been touched by cancer. By providing free of charge opportunities one can join with others to share their experience, strengths and most importantly, their hope. Partnering with Miller-Motte College in Wilmington, NC and their Cosmetology Program, "Women of Hope" was recently able to continue their provisionary services with a workshop on what types of beauty products to use for skin and hair while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Led by
Cosmetology Program Director Rosemary Vice, esthetics instructor Cathy Armstrong, and Shannon Carlson, Director of Employer Relations, the August 30th event was more than just a talking time. Participants received sample products and tutorials on the all-natural products advocated by MMC clinics.

Says Shannon Carlson, "Women of Hope is an awesome organization that MMC wanted to get involved with to show support of cancer patients. This organization helps patients in dealing with emotional and physical changes of having cancer. In the near future we're planning a “spa day” for these brave women in which we'll offer free facials, massages and hand paraffin treatments.

The event was attended by nearly a dozen women and even a few supportive husbands!
