Massage Therapy Training at Miller-Motte College in Cary, NC: The Personal Touch You Need to be Successful

massage-therapy-certificate.jpgMassage Therapists do so much for so many. From calming the nerves of a soon-to-be mother to prepping an athlete for the big game, Massage Therapists use their skilled and relaxing touch for whole-body wellness.

Massage is widely recognized by healthcare providers as an effective treatment for people of all ages. As massage services are included more and more into physicians’ treatment plans, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects that employment of Massage Therapists will grow 22% from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for other occupations.

Miller-Motte’s Massage Therapy program will familiarize you with the anatomy of the human body and introduce you to kinesiology, which is the study of how bodies move. Once you’ve conquered the basics, our courses will show you how to utilize different massage techniques in order to effectively soothe different conditions.

After graduating from our program, you’ll be prepared to sit for certification exams and take the next step in pursuing a fulfilling career. Once employed as a Massage Therapist, you can feel confident knowing you will truly make a difference in the lives of those around you.

A Rejuvenating Career

Massage Therapy is so much more than just a massage. Massage Therapists may be responsible for:

  • Evaluating client symptoms and medical history
  • Creating personalized treatment plans
  • Documenting client conditions and progress
  • Marketing their services for new business
  • Booking appointments and maintaining a schedule

Massage Therapists can also specialize in many different types of massage, including Swedish, prenatal, deep-tissue and sports massage. Massage Therapists utilize these different massage techniques in a variety of settings, such as spas, clinics, physicians’ offices, hotels, clients’ homes or even their own homes.

Real-World Success

Crystal Snell, a 2012 graduate of Miller-Motte’s Massage Therapy program, was able to find success for herself and for others with her career in Massage Therapy. Crystal is currently a Lead Therapist at Massage Envy, responsible for hiring, managing and training her staff of 30. During her time with Massage Envy, Crystal has hired four other Miller-Motte graduates.

Crystal had tried different colleges several times in the past, but had never completed a program. When asked what had helped her get through to the end at Miller-Motte, Crystal was quick to note the small student-to-faculty ratio, the hands-on training, supportive staff and peers and the recognition from the teachers and the school for working hard.

Crystal still talks to her favorite teachers and advisor, who has since asked Crystal to work part-time as a Teaching Assistant and Substitute Teacher for several Miller-Motte Massage Therapy courses. “It’s nice to be able to give back to the school that helped me get on my career path and find something that works for me.”

“I tell people to go to Miller-Motte all the time. I think that making that decision and finding the right school and the right program for you, and the fact that Miller-Motte lets you talk to the heads of the departments … and talk to some of the students, it makes the difference.”
