                  Plus, this is a Hybrid track program. What does this mean for you? You’ll spend a few hours each week at the campus for face-to-face training. You will then take most of your coursework online with video, audio and text-based lessons and interactive discussion groups. It’s the best of both worlds, for your convenience. 

                  What Will You Learn In Your Medical Clinical Assistant Training Program?

                  You’ll get an excellent balance of classroom learning and hands-on experience with our Medical Clinical Assistant courses. Our experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know.

                  As a student in our Medical Clinical Assistant program, you''ll take a variety of courses including:

                  • Clinical Foundations: This competency-based course focuses on the clinical medical assisting skills required to prepare a patient for examination and to assist the Physician during patient examination and treatment. Infection control and safety and AIDS-related precautions are stressed.
                  • Clinical Specialties: This competency based course teaches the skills necessary to perform selected diagnostic procedures used in general medicine and specialty Physician offices to include assisting with surgical procedures, specialty examination, medication administration, allergy testing, electrocardiography, respiratory testing, wound care and catheterization assisting patients prepare for diagnostic imaging studies. Risk management HIPAA, infection control, safety and blood borne pathogen precautions are stressed.
                  • Clinical Laboratory: This competency based course teaches the skills necessary for the performance of selected laboratory procedures. Students will learn phlebotomy techniques, capillary sticks, microscopic examination skills, gram staining procedures, urinalysis testing and various laboratory-testing procedures performed in the Physician’s office. Students will practice how to obtain samples for testing and how to follow up patient test results. Risk management, quality control, HIPAA, infection control, safety and AIDS-related precautions are stressed.

                  You’ll also take part in an Externship and Medical Review course where you’ll have the opportunity to practice administrative and clinical skills in a suitable Physician’s office or ambulatory health care facility under the supervision of the practicum coordinator and site preceptor. This will give you the real-world experience your future employer will be looking for. You’ll also prepare for and review information on the national certification exam.
