                  Get Veterinary Technician Training at Miller-Motte College in Raleigh, NC

                  Do you have a love of animals? Have you always wanted a career that lets you care for animals? Are you interested in working with medicine? If you answered yes, the Veterinary Technology program at Miller-Motte College in Raleigh can give you the training you need. We help students in the areas of Knightdale, Raleigh, Clayton, Durham and Garner, North Carolina.

                  Here at Miller-Motte College, our Veterinary Technology program can help give you the education you need to become a Veterinary Technician in as little as 23 months. As a Vet Tech or a Veterinary Assistant, you will be qualified to work in a field you love, helping care for and treat beloved pets and animals.

                  Our Veterinary Technician Training Courses

                  In our classes, your industry-experienced instructors will give you the knowledge and practical skills you need. We have small class sizes and an externship designed to help every student become skilled in Veterinary Technology. Below you’ll find a list of just some of the courses you’ll take to earn your diploma in Veterinary Technology:

                  • Husbandry and Disease of Small Animals & Large Animals: This two-class series gives students the basics of husbandry, immunology and disease in both large animals and common small animals. They also learn about the disease and husbandry of exotic species.
                  • Anatomy & Physiology of Animals I & II: In this two-part class, students are introduced to the anatomy and physiology of both large and small animals that Vet Techs should expect to work with in their veterinary career. Students will also be instructed in comparative anatomy.
                  • Veterinary Technology Externship: Students will have the opportunity to refine their skills and work in a real practice within their local community as they engage in a supervised externship. They will also participate in weekly seminars where they will share their experience and develop professional portfolios.

                  Available Careers in Veterinary Technology

                  Many people care deeply about their pets’ well-being and consider them as part of their family. As predicted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Veterinary Technician careers will grow by 30% by the year 2022. With your Veterinary Technology diploma in hand, you could qualify for two different career paths:

                  Veterinary Technician

                  As a Veterinary Technician, you will assist veterinarians by performing lab tests. You may also be asked to help during surgeries. Vet Techs also keep pet owners updated on their beloved pet’s health and condition.

                  Veterinary Assistant

                  As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be responsible for helping veterinarians take care of sick and injured animals. Veterinary Assistants also answer questions pet owners might have about their pet’s condition and provide the necessary information on how to treat the pet. You may also provide treatments to animals, such as administering medications.

                  Miller-Motte College has 11 convenient locations and offers Beauty & Wellness, Business, Healthcare, Protective Services, Skilled Trades-CDL and Technology courses and programs. We also offer 100% online programs through our Wilmington location (Business Administration, Criminal Justice, IT Support Specialist and Medical Billing and Coding). All graduates have access to Career Assistance which includes guidance from our Career Services team, resume updates, workshops and more.
