Miller-Motte’s CDL: Class A Tractor Trailer program helps prepare you for the chance to pursue a career as a tractor-trailer or heavy haul driver. This program allows you to pursue a CDL: Class A Tractor Trailer certificate in a flexible environment that combines in-classroom instruction with hands-on experience. Enrollment is on a rolling basis with classes beginning every 5 weeks, and you can be finished with your CDL: Class A Tractor Trailer certificate in as little as 4 weeks.

Workforce Agency Funding
Workforce agencies can connect students with various funding options and services, including state and federal tuition assistance through grants and programs.
VeteransFunding
Veterans or eligible beneficiaries may qualify to use the GI Bill® at Miller-Motte College. Many Veterans can qualify for more than one education benefits program. Available programs include Post 911 GI Bill (Chapter 33), Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30), Survivor and Dependents Educational Assistance Program (DEA/Chapter 35), Chapter 1606 (Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve) and Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants (Awarded to eligible students who had a parent or guardian that died as a result of military service in Iraq or Afghanistan after September 11, 2001). Vocational Rehabilitation Programs
A student with a physical or mental disability which may be a handicap to employment may be eligible for training services provided through the state government agency for Vocational Rehabilitation. Students desiring further information should contact the admissions office or call Vocational Rehabilitation directly.
Cash Payments
Students with available funds can choose to pay for their training directly.
Third-Party Lending
Third-party lenders can provide student loans specifically designed for educational purposes. Paramount Capital Group also offers students a private financing option. What Can I Do With A CDL: Class A Tractor Trailer Certificate?

Frequently Asked Questions
How long it takes to complete CDL training can vary depending on the school and program. At Miller-Motte, you can complete your CDL training in four or eight weeks depending on whether you enroll as a full- or part-time student.
Generally speaking, a CDL Class A license allows you to operate large commercial vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the towed vehicle weighs over 10,000 pounds. With a CDL Class A, you can drive:
- Tractor-trailers (semi-trucks, big rigs, 18-wheelers)
- Flatbeds
- Tanker trucks
- Livestock haulers
- Dump trucks with trailers and more
- The specifics of what you can drive may vary by state.
To be eligible for our CDL training, you should have a valid driver’s license. They cannot have any of the following:
- DUI/DWI convictions within five years of completion date (of our CDL program). If there are 2 DUIs/DWIs the second must be 10 years back or farther from completion date.
- At fault accidents within the last year. If there are 2 accidents, the second must be at least 4 years back.
Endangerment convictions within 2 years. - Reckless/careless/negligent driving convictions within 2 years.
- Traffic points exceeding 4 active points on current license.

No, you do not need prior truck driving experience to enroll in a CDL Class A training program. Our CDL Class A: Tractor Trailer program is designed for beginners and provides the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to operate a commercial vehicle safely. We also offer a refresher course for people with an expired CDL who want to renew their license.
Are You a CDL Holder Looking to Get Back in the Industry?
Our CDL refresher course helps you refresh your skills to re-enter the workforce or reach an employer’s requirements. This refresher includes 40 clocked hours and takes one month to complete.
