Earning a degree can serve as a gateway to more career opportunities, higher salaries, and advanced education. Despite knowing this, life may have other plans. Students may choose to change from a degree program to a diploma or certificate program to enter the workforce sooner.
Thankfully, degree completion programs are an affordable and flexible alternative to traditional education. These programs work well for nontraditional students with full-time obligations interested in completing their degree. They can also serve as a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing advanced education at a later date.

What is a Degree Completion Program?

Degree completion programs are designed to help those with some higher education earn their degree. It typically includes previously earned credits towards a student’s degree to reduce the additional cost of pursuing higher education. These programs often offer accelerated timelines, so students can quickly earn their degree and enter the workforce.
These programs are typically taught in a flexible learning environment to better accommodate students’ schedules. This can make education more accessible to students with other obligations or time constraints. Degree completion programs can give students more control over their education and help them stick to their academic goals.

Why Consider a Degree Completion Program?

Degree completion programs can offer students speed and flexibility. Since these programs can include previous credits earned toward the current curriculum, students can earn their degree in months rather than years. Taking advantage of accepted transfer credits can reduce the total cost of earning your degree.
Many degree completion programs are offered online which makes it more accessible for working students. This gives students the freedom to tailor their education to their needs and increases the likelihood of completing their studies.
Obtaining a degree can present multiple opportunities for career and academic advancement. Degrees can also give applicants a competitive edge within the job market and can increase their earning potential. These advantages combined with lower total costs and flexible learning make degree completion programs appeal to many students.
